About HackGB

HackGB 2026 is UW–Green Bay’s collegiate hackathon, bringing together students, developers, designers, and innovators for a 24-hour building experience at the STEM Innovation Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

From October 17–18, 2026, hackers will form teams, choose a challenge track, and turn an idea into a working project. Whether you're building your first hackathon project or you have competed before, HackGB is a place to experiment with new technologies, learn from mentors, meet other students, and build something you're proud of.

Participants will have access to mentors, workshops, sponsor technologies and resources throughout the event. At the end of the hacking period, teams will submit their projects through Devpost and present them during the HackGB Project Expo for judging.

Requirements

What to Build

Build a new, functional project during HackGB that addresses a problem, explores an idea, or responds to one of the available HackGB challenge tracks.

Your project may be a web or mobile application, AI/ML solution, hardware project, game, data project, developer tool, or another technology-based solution.

Projects should:

  • Be developed primarily during the official HackGB hacking period.
  • Be created by a team of 1–4 hackers.
  • Demonstrate meaningful technical implementation.
  • Clearly identify the problem or opportunity being addressed.
  • Be submitted to the appropriate challenge track(s), where applicable.
  • Clearly disclose any pre-existing code, frameworks, APIs, datasets, AI tools, or other third-party resources used.

You are welcome to use open-source libraries, APIs, frameworks, AI tools, sponsor technologies, and other publicly available resources. However, the core project and substantial development work must be completed during HackGB.

What to Submit

Each team must create a Devpost project submission before the submission deadline. Only one submission is required per team.

Your Devpost submission must include:

  1. Project Name
Give your project a clear and memorable name.
  2. Project Description
Explain the problem you addressed, your solution, how it works, and what makes it useful or innovative.
  3. Technologies Used
List the programming languages, frameworks, APIs, platforms, AI models/tools, hardware, sponsor technologies, and other major technologies used.
  4. Project Demonstration
Include a working demo when possible. This may be a deployed application, live website, prototype, or another accessible demonstration of your project.
  5. Demo Video
Submit a short video demonstrating your project and its key features. The video should allow judges to understand what you built and how it works.
  6. Source Code
Provide a link to your project's source-code repository. The repository must be accessible to HackGB organizers and judges during judging.
  7. Team Members
Make sure every team member who contributed to the project is listed on the Devpost submission.
  8. Challenge Track(s)
Select the HackGB track or sponsor challenge your project is entering, where applicable.

Your submission should contain enough information for judges to understand what you built, why you built it, how it works, and what your team accomplished during HackGB.

Projects must be submitted on Devpost before hacking officially ends at 12:00 PM on Sunday, October 18, 2026. Late or incomplete submissions may not be eligible for judging or prizes.
